Melar Guesthouse

Melar guesthouse is a family-owned guesthouse located in Kópasker, a small village in Öxarfjörður just north by The Arctic Henge. The house, which is the oldest residential building in the village, is under construction but it was originally built in 1930. This summer, in the summer of 2020, it is possible to rent the studio apartment on the ground floor. The seafront at Melar guesthouse has two hot tubs, Bakkaböðin, where guests can enjoy a relaxing time and also go for a swim in the ocean in an exclusive setting. Around there the birdlife is diverse, the lighting is unique and the peace and quiet along with the barren nature are dominant. The area is distinctive in terms of diversity in birdlife and there are bird watching houses in Kópasker. The village of Kópasker is about an hours' drive from Húsavík, about 37 km from Ásbyrgi national park and Hljóðaklettar as well as only 60 km from Dettifoss waterfall. The village is a part of the Arctic Coast Way which receives increasing attention from tourists who choose to travel and experience roads less traveled in the northern part of Iceland. In a short car ride from Kópasker, it is possible to drive to the Arctic Circle, visit Raufarhöfn village with The Arctic Henge and explore the beaches and bird cliffs in Melrakkslétta. The northern lights can also be enjoyed in the best possible conditions when they shine in the countryside around Kópasker. The studio apartment is up for rent in the summer of 2020 from the 1st of June until the end of August.
