Aðalsteinn Þórsson The Personal Collection, May 2017 Akureyri Art Museum, Ketilhús, May 6ᵗʰ - 28ᵗʰ Aðalsteinn Þórsson (born 1964) studied at The School of Visual Arts in Akureyri and later in the Netherlands, where he graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the Dutch Art Institute, in 1998. He has worked since as an artist in Rotterdam, but moved home to Eyjafjörður last spring. Aðalsteinn is known for his use of diverse materials and work methods. Last year he published on his blog www.teikningadag2016.blogspot.com, one drawing per day, the whole year around. Aðalsteinn titles this exhibition The Personal Collection, May 2017. It is a long-term project which started in 2002, where Aðalsteinn collects casual leftovers from his personal consumption, or shows documents of the consumption. The exhibition is the status check for May 2017.

Society and the economy have many faces. Whereas agriculture is the mainstay of rural areas, the towns depend upon fishing, industry, trade and a range of services, with each village having its own characteristics though they all prove hospitable hosts. 
The availability of food and accommodation and the possibilities at every location for recreation and entertainment make hopping between the villages informative as well as fun.   
In every case, the residents are lively and ready to celebrate.
