What is drone? Drone music is a style based on long sustained notes with little changes.

It has appeared in traditional folk music around the world for thousands of years. Tibetan Buddhists use tonal chanting while Celtic and Middle Eastern countries play the bagpipes. Indian music is drone featuring instruments such as the sitar and tanura. The word “drone” is derived from the old English “drane”, which means “to hover” like a hummingbird or a bee…. Drone transcends cultural indicators. It is a both ancient and CONTEMPORARY, a GLOBAL musical category and can be found everywhere, in natural and industrial soundscapes as well. Music has the power to bring people together where words and actions fail.

ARCTIC DRONE is an immersive event and all-encompassing experience, inspired by international series, featuring musicians and sound artists experimenting within the spectrum of drone to create 24 hours of unbroken, uninterrupted sound with sustained tones shaped by voice or instrumentation, transcend time, genre and music itself. This is a shared experience devoted to unifying players and listeners alike. We aim to bring cultures together, demonstrating the diversity inherently present within all music. The cross-pollination of instrumentation, musical traditions and culture creates a tapestry of human experience, elevating the whole, greater than the sum of its parts. Diversity of sound links uncommon components through a seamless sonic and communal experience, with connections and dialogues opened in unexpected ways.

Towns & Villages

Society and the economy have many faces. Whereas agriculture is the mainstay of rural areas, the towns depend upon fishing, industry, trade and a range of services, with each village having its own characteristics though they all prove hospitable hosts.
The availability of food and accommodation and the possibilities at every location for recreation and entertainment make hopping between the villages informative as well as fun.
In every case, the residents are lively and ready to celebrate.
