ATLI ÖRVARS AND THE DREAM FACTORY
Atli Örvarsson's portrait concert where his symphonic music from a number of known movies and television series will be performed. This includes music from Vantage Point, Hansel & Gretel and Chicago Fire. Furthermore, a new composition by Atli will be performed.
"a wonderfully minimalist score that lends a mornful solemny to the film," says Mark Kermode, critic for The Guardian, about the music in Hrútar (Rams).
Atli Örvarsson grew up in and music was an integral part of his life from his early childhood. He played with a number of bands, including Stuðkompaníið from Akureyri and Sálin hans Jóns míns. He studied at the respected Berklee College of Music, where he found his place in the world of film music, and then went on to complete a master's degree from North Carolina Shool of the Arts. Today he writes all the music for the NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med. Atli also wrote the score for the American film "The Perfect Guy", which topped the ticket sales in the US in September 2015, but the music was performed by the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Atli.
The North Iceland Symphony Orchestra has a fresh and modern style. It records CDs and film scores, performs with musicians from various musical branches and gives classical concerts in between. It has collaborated with Árstíðir, Dúndurfréttir, Dimma, Pollapönk, Steve Hackett (from Genesis), Ólafur Arnalds, Eivör Pálsdóttir, Greta Salóme and Todmobile, to name but a few. Conducted by Atli Örvarsson, the orchestra has recorded scores for four films in its first year as the Arctic Cinematic Orchestra.
