Group exhibition Creation of Childhood 2017 Akureyri Art Museum, Ketilhús, April 22ⁿᵈ - May 28ᵗʰ This is the fourth yearly exhibition with the title Creation of Childhood. The aim is to stimulate creative work and creative thinking of school children from the age of two to sixteen. Participants each time are children, artists, and The Toy Exhibition at Friðbjarnarhús. Creation of Childhood is a cooperation in constant development and each exhibition is independent and special. The exhibition has attracted well deserved attention and is unique in regards to cooperation between artists and children. This time the theme is the shore, in a broad sense. This year’s participants are: The preschools Töllaborgir and Lundarsel, the elementary schools Brekkuskóli and Giljaskóli, The Toy Exhibition at Friðbjarnarhús, and the artists Hekla Björt Helgadóttir, Magnús Helgason, Marina Ries and Samuel Ries. The availability of food and accommodation and the possibilities at every location for recreation and entertainment make hopping between the villages informative as well as fun.   
In every case, the residents are lively and ready to celebrate.
