Group exhibition New Resources: Video works from the collection - The Factory, Center for Contemporary Art

Group exhibition New Resources: Video works from the collection The Factory, Center for Contemporary Art, Hjalteyri, September 16ᵗʰ - October 1ˢᵗ This exhibition is based on new and recent video works from Akureyri Art Museum’s collection, held in the Factory at Hjalteyri, 20 km north of Akureyri. Video artworks have not been prominent features in Akureyri Art Museum’s collection, but over the last few years this has changed. The exhibition is a collaboration between Akureyri Art Museum and The Factory, Center for Contemporary Art in Hjalteyri, and is a part of an effort to exhibit works from the Museum’s collection in a new light. The exhibition space is very raw and will therefore create a fascinating setting for this type of visual art. Artists: Arna Valsdóttir, Ine Lamers, Klængur Gunnarsson, Þóra Sólveig Bergsteinsdóttir and others. Curators: Guðrún Pálína Guðmundsdóttir and Hlynur Hallsson.

Towns & Villages

Society and the economy have many faces. Whereas agriculture is the mainstay of rural areas, the towns depend upon fishing, industry, trade and a range of services, with each village having its own characteristics though they all prove hospitable hosts.
The availability of food and accommodation and the possibilities at every location for recreation and entertainment make hopping between the villages informative as well as fun.
In every case, the residents are lively and ready to celebrate.
