Icelandair has started to offer an international connection between Akureyri Airport in North Iceland and the Company’s Keflavik international hub. The international connection will be offered between 15 October and 30 November 2023, with flights three times a week from Akureyri to Keflavik, Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 5:50 AM and three flights from Keflavik to Akureyri, Wednesday at 9:20 PM and Friday and Sunday at 5:15 PM. The flight opens convenient connections between Icelandair’s European destinations and North Iceland.

The flight is set up as an international connection, with security screening taking place in Akureyri Airport and is bookable with an Icelandair international flight. Icelandair’s future goal is to strengthen the international connection to Akureyri, in line with demand.

Tómas Ingason, Icelandair Chief Commercial Officer:

“Our international connection from Akureyri has already been well received by people in North Iceland and tourists alike, as it will considerably shorten travel time between North Iceland and our destinations in Europe. Akureyri is a great winter destination and one of our main goals with the connection is to increase the number of tourists that visit North Iceland, in wintertime.”
