Dalvík is only a 35 min. drive from Akureyri and has one of the best skiing areas in the country. There is a wide variety of runs suitable for all members of the family, one of the slopes being floodlit and 1,200m long.The area is equipped with a new snow production system which ensures better snow conditions. Osar is located on the Vatnsnes Peninsula, 25 km north of road no. 1. In the recent years the hostel has been completely renovated.Ósar ocean beach is full of life. Seals abound and also eider ducks and other birds, and the rock Hvítserkur, which resembles a prehistoric Dinosaur, is within walking distance from the Hostel.  The unspoiled nature, peaceful environment and a variety of recreation opportunities makes Ósar an ideal stop in an Iceland tour. In only about 5 min walk you are in unusually close contact with nature. Here guests can see a number of different birds and one of Iceland´s biggest colonies of seals , swimming only a few meters from the beach.   A superb place for nature lovers

Mývatn Campsite is surrounded by dramatic lava formations and offers beautiful views of Hverfjall crater. Located just a short walk from Lake Mývatn, it is an excellent base for exploring the area's unique volcanic landscapes and many natural attractions. Popular destinations such as Dimmuborgir, Mývatn Nature Baths and Grjótagjá Cave are only a few minutes away by car, while hiking trails to Hverfjall and Grjótagjá begin close to the campsite. Ólafsfjörður offers ideal conditions for winter sports. The neighbouring mountains and valleys offer excellent terrain for snowmobile touring and the environment is particulary well-situated to skiing. In Ólafsfjörður there is one lift, 600 m, well suitable for beginners and professionals alike. Specially laid tracks extent pratically all over the town, and The Ólafsfjörður Skiing Association organises cross-country excursions anround the vicinity. The Tindaöxl skiing area is equipped with ski lifts and excellent slalom tracks. Snowboarding enthusiasts have large pristine areas at their disposal. Refreshments are on offer in the Skiing Association Lodge, wich is also equipped with attic sleeping bag accomodation for up to 25 persons.

Bakkaflöt Campsite is a welcoming campsite in Skagafjörður, beautifully situated beside the Svartá River and surrounded by peaceful countryside. Part of a family-run tourism business, it offers a combination of comfortable camping, accommodation and outdoor adventures. The campsite accommodates tents, caravans and motorhomes and features modern facilities including toilets, hot showers, a guest kitchen, electrical hookups and indoor communal areas. In Grimstunga we have 4 houses. Three of them are with rooms, that share bathrooms, and some have hand basins. Rooms for two, three or four people. Cooking facilities. Sitting rooms with TVs. Free Wi-Fi. The fourth house is in Hólssel, 6 km (3.7 mi) from Grímstunga, by the route Dettifossvegur (route no. 864).There are rooms with En-suite/private bathroom. Reception is at Grímstunga, but breakfast for those staying at Hólssel is served on site. Hólssel is 20 km (12.5 mi) from waterfall Dettifoss.

Akureyri HI Hostel has been a part of the Hostelling International since it opened 1967. The Hostel has been run by the same family for all these years and they all share the same passion for the Hostel, to welcome travelers from all over the world and make them feel comfortable and enjoying their stay. Accommodation Information The Hostel offers different types of rooms; mixed dorm rooms, single room, twin with and without bath, and group / family rooms for three to six persons. Two fantastic summerhouses in the garden, each house has kitchen, living room and bathroom, each can accommodating eight persons (twin room, four person room and upstairs two beds) plus hot tub is included in the price. We also have a small cabin with three beds, toilet and a sink. All rooms include; reading light over every bed, table & chairs, mirror, TV, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi and pillows & duvets. All rooms come with access to two kitchens that are well equipped for cooking and good dining rooms. There is a TV room with tables, chairs and a sofa. We offer sleeping bag accommodation, bed linen can be provided and made up beds. Laundry is possible at the hostel. There is a big outside area with tables, chairs and BBQ. Akureyri HI Hostel is located in the center of the town, conveniently close to the city center. All places needed are in a walking distance; 10 min walk to the city center, 5 min walk to Glerártorg shopping center, 1 min walk to Bónus supermarket (the cheapest in Akureyri), 5 min to a bakery and 7 min to local’s favorite restaurant. Most of other main attractions of the town are within walking distance. In Akureyri there are city buses that are for free. They go past the Hostel every hour. Akureyri H.I. Hostel is the perfect place to stay on to visit all the pearls that mother nature offers in the North, like Lake Mývatn which is known for its natural beauty – landscape, animals and bird life, Goðafoss one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, Dettifoss the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Húsavík known as the whale watching town, Ásbyrgi an enclosed canyon, about 3,5 km long and 1,1 km wide, surrounded by cliffs which reach as high as 100 m. Hveravellir is one of Iceland’s most popular Oasis in the highlands whether your drive hike or ride the Icelandic horse. The area offers various hiking trails through the wonders of the lava field or nearby spectacular mountain slope. And for those in need of recharging and relaxing just a simple chill in the nature pool followed by a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of cake in the Internet Café might be just the thing.

Hotel rooms:  Guesthouse - 9 double rooms with private facilities. Small lounge for making tea and coffee all day. Camping place:  The Hlíð camping is conveniently located on the northern shore of lake Mývatn, by the village of Reykjahlid. It´s only 5 minutes walk from the Tourist info and supermarket. From the camping there is fantastic view over the lake and the lavafield. We offer good facilities for tents and trailers and electricity is accessible. Warm showers are free of charge for guests and laundry service is available as well. Hlid offers all kinds of entertainment, such as bike rental, playground for children and barbeque.  It´s perfect  to rent a bike for the day and ride around the lake. The distance is 37km, mostly flat road, with great views of the area, lake and birds. There is also the possibility of hiking in the area. There are many different trails, for short or longer walks. We provide you all necessary information for these hikes. There is an information center for tourists in the area that is well worth visiting. There is also a swimming pool, nature baths, golf course , cafés, restaurants and bars.  

Akureyri Backpackers is a hostel, located on the main shopping street of Akureyri. We offer budget accommodation for travelers from all over the world. Our dorms are 4, 6 and 8 bedded and our private rooms host 2-3 persons. You can choose between bringing your own sleeping bag or renting a duvet wrapped in a cozy cover. The house is about 270 square meters and can accomodate about 110 persons in seats.  Tables and chairs are available.  The house has four toilets, kitchen with a dishwasher, refridgerator, stove and a coffee maker.
