Enjoy a fun day out suitable for all the family on one of our kayak tours.  Our sit-on-top kayaks can be rented by the hour for both guided and non-guided tours. Sit-on-top kayaks (single and double) are very stable, easy to get in and out of, and you will have no feeling of confinement making them ideal for all abilities.  Our kayak rental is operated from the picturesque village of Hjalteyri (20km from Akureyri, pick up available). This peaceful location is ideal as you can choose between kayaking on a lake, in a small harbour or out on the fjord depending on weather conditions and your own ability.  Feel at one with nature as you experience kayak fishing, whale spotting or just relax on your kayak. At the end of your kayak tour you can relax in the hot tub on the beach at Hjalteyri with views of the fjord and mountains.  

Gentle Giants is a family-run company which has been offering tours from Húsavík, the Whale Capital of Iceland, since 2002. We are proud of our strong roots in Skjálfandi Bay with more than 160 years of family history in the bay. Bakkaflöt Campsite is a welcoming campsite in Skagafjörður, beautifully situated beside the Svartá River and surrounded by peaceful countryside. Part of a family-run tourism business, it offers a combination of comfortable camping, accommodation and outdoor adventures. The campsite accommodates tents, caravans and motorhomes and features modern facilities including toilets, hot showers, a guest kitchen, electrical hookups and indoor communal areas. Dogs are welcome when kept on a leash. Guests also have access to the on-site restaurant, bar, swimming pool and hot tubs. Bakkaflöt is especially well known for its white-water rafting tours on the East and West Glacial Rivers, which have been offered here since 1994 and are among the most popular adventure activities in North Iceland. The rental is located in Skagaströnd which is 20 minutes from Highway 1.You can come and rent a kayak for 1 hour or a guided tour and you can book it through our booking site or call us.We offer two delivery points in the area, but otherwise you are on your own.It is good to keep in mind that the weather changes and it is not recommended to go out to sea if the wind forecast shows over 4 m/s.Our boats are „sit on top“ and you must therefore be expected to get wet, they are only intended for sailing at sea and on lakes.If you take the boat with you, the car must be equipped for it. You are responsible for your own safety!
