During the summer months of June and July, North Iceland enjoys long, bright days thanks to the Midnight Sun. Around midsummer, the sun barely sets before rising again, creating extended daylight well into the night. Along the Arctic Coast Way, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the sun near the horizon over the sea and make the most of the extra daylight for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Bright nights typically last from early May until mid-August.
In winter, the days gradually become shorter, reaching their shortest around December 20–23, when there are just over three hours of daylight. Despite the limited daylight, the winter landscape offers its own unique charm, with snow-covered scenery and excellent opportunities to experience the Northern Lights.
