They are introduced to the house itself, its design and different ongoing projects in it, and get an insight into the life of a young artist in Akureyri. The main concert halls, Hamraborg and Hamrar, are examined, as are the make-up room and the recording studio, to give some examples.

Medieval Days in Gásir

20.-22. Jul
Each summer in July on the old medieval trading site Gásir, a medieval trading area is re-created. The interactive medieval market event takes place over four days with daily demonstrations in medieval crafts and games. The villagers are dressed in medieval costume and can be seen demonstrating medieval crafts; spinning wool, wood carving, tanning, blacksmithing and much more. Shows of medieval sword fighting are held each day and members of the public can join in with medieval ball games and archery.

Fire in Hunathing

Eldur is more than a festival. It is an ever-evolving expression of our community – a celebration of our past and an investment in our future in Hunthing vestra. A time when we can come together to enjoy the simplicity of simultaneous existence. Iceland Summer Games

3.- 6. Aug
During the „verslunarmannahelgi“, the town of Akureyri will be the host of the 2017 Iceland Summer Games: where all sort of extreme sports, endurance tests and recreational games will take place, for all ages. The residents as well as the guests will have the opportunity to try mountain hiking, triathlon, swimming in the sea, biking, sailing and more. People will be able to compete with each other, or simply try the different sports. The main purpose is to encourage whole families as well as individuals to take part in the games while enjoying the exercise and outdoor activities.

The Great Fish Day

10.-12. Aug
The Great Fish day is an annual festival in Dalvíkurbyggð. Fish producers and other members of the society invite guests to a sea food buffet between 11:00 and 17:00 at the harbour in Dalvík.

Dettifoss Trail Run

Vatnajökull National Park, Jökulsárhlaupið, Dettifoss run, takes you on hiking paths through the unique natural wonders of the area.

Blueberry Music Festival

16.-19. Aug
The 19th annual Blueberry Music Festival will be held in Ólafsfjörður August 17th-19th 2017. This family-friendly festival consists of daily interesting events and classical concerts in the evening. Admission is free for guests 18 years and younger and a childrens concert takes place on Saturday the 19th in the charming venue Pálshús. The grand finale "Tapas and Music" has a Spanish flair as guests will enjoy tapas courses while they listen to renowned Icelandic classical singers perform. On Sunday the 20th the festival will host a free guided walk in the blueberry blue hiking paradise of Ólafsfjörður.

Akureyri Town Festival

The Birthday of Akureyri celebrations. Annual highlights are: Opening ceremony in the Botanical garden, Spooky evening in the old town, concerts in the center of town and events along the Artist Alley. Every year has a special theme.

KOTTOS - with energy and feeling

KOTTOS (DK/GR) unites some of the strongest award winning instrumentalists of the Danish and Greek classical and experimental music scene. The ensemble's music revisits different musical traditions with a strong sense of Nordic style and greek warmth, virtuosity and energy. The combination of instruments: recorder, accordion, bouzouki and cello liberates the music from the usual notion of genres and makes KOTTOS a remarkable and unique phenomenon.
