The festival takes place on the last Friday of June, from June 30th until July 2nd.
As usual, the festivities kick off on Friday evening in true adventurous style with an overnight rafting trip down the legendary canyon section of Austari Jökulsá (East Glacial River) where we take on all the same world-class rapids and stunning scenery that most only get to do by day.
Saturday morning, we continue with the annual FIRE & ICE CREEK RACE, Iceland’s first-ever Red Bull sponsored international kayaking race. Racers will paddle a series of waterfalls on the Barká river, just 20 minutes drive from Akureyri!
With competition prizes, a lineup of live music, camping, good food and drink, and a gathering of great people, the celebration continues until Sunday morning.
