Vatnsnes Trail Run
A trail running event set in the unique natural surroundings of Vatnsnesfjall above Hvammstangi.
Participants can choose between a free 1.5 km family run, a 10 km route, or a 20 km route.
Race Start Times
- 20 km+ route — starts at 14:00
- 10 km route — starts at 15:00
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories for each distance, along with generous raffle prizes. Light refreshments will be available for all participants in the 10 km and 20 km races after the event.
Family Run
A family run of just under 1.5 km will also be available. The race starts and finishes at the community center in Hvammstangi.

- Free entry for all participants
- Children will receive a small gift after the race
All children registered for the family run will receive a race number, which must be collected before the start.
Beautiful, diverse, and exciting running routes through stunning scenery await participants, along with great atmosphere and fun for the whole family.
With the ocean, mountains, and everything in between, everyone should be able to find a distance that suits them.
Registration for all races is available at netskraning.is until 11:00 on race day.
Refunds are available up to one week before the race by emailing vatnsnestrailrun@gmail.com.
Participants can also enjoy free admission to the Húnaþing Vestra Sports Center swimming pool after the race by presenting their race number.
