The walk starts at the parking area at Berg Cultural Centre or the town hall. From there, head down toward the harbour and follow a path that descends to the waterfront. Continue north between the fish processing buildings before turning left and climbing Karlsrauðatorg to Karlsbraut. The route then follows a path through the pleasant recreational area known as Lágin. Continue past the preschool and onto Böggvisbraut, where another path leads uphill. Follow this path south along the edge of town before descending via Skógarhólar and continuing past the swimming pool to Svarfaðarbraut. Turn right and follow the path alongside the campsite. You can either continue down Mímisvegur or take the footpath that passes the school buildings and sports field. At Skíðabraut, turn left and head north toward the restaurant Gísli, Eiríkur og Helgi. From here, continue along Hafnarbraut before turning right downhill toward the sea. The route follows Martröð north along the marina and returns to the waterfront path near the starting point. This varied walk combines harbour views, quiet residential streets, green spaces, and scenic viewpoints, offering an excellent introduction to Dalvík.
