A good starting point for this walk is the birdwatching shelter located at the seafront, a short distance from the Skerjakolla shop. From there, follow the road for a short stretch before heading down to the shoreline, where a well-trodden path leads to the town fence. A staircase provides easy access over the fence. Beyond the fence, you can descend to a beautiful sandy beach before continuing up to the road leading to the lighthouse. The sandy bay is rich in birdlife, and it offers lovely views back towards the village and out across the open sea. From the lighthouse, the route continues along a dirt track that crosses the old airfield. It then turns back towards the village, following a small loop around it before returning to the starting point. There are plans to install a staircase down to the beach near the birdwatching shelter and another opposite Duggugerði, which will make it easier to access various sections of the shoreline. Several benches are located along the route, providing plenty of opportunities to sit, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.
