You can start this hike from the parking area by the Berjaya Hotel. Cross the road to the lake, where a sign marks the beginning of the route. The trail is waymarked throughout. Follow the lakeshore westward for about 1 to 1.5 hours before the route turns across the lava field and crosses the main road. From there, the trail climbs a heather-covered slope before turning east and heading back towards the village. This section follows an old road for most of the way. This is an enjoyable walk through varied landscapes, combining lakeside scenery, lava formations, and open heathland. Take care when crossing the lava field, as hidden crevices and fissures may be present. Bringing a packed lunch is highly recommended, allowing you to pause along the way, listen to the birdsong, and enjoy the beautiful views.
