Raufarhöfn - From the Coast to Ásinn Ridge Hiking trail
Starting from the swimming pool and campsite, the route follows the shoreline through the older part of the village and out onto the harbour pier. From there, the trail climbs up Ásinn Ridge and follows it south of the village, offering fine views of the surrounding coastline. The route then loops back to the starting point, completing an enjoyable circular walk.

This circular walk begins at the school or campsite and follows the shoreline, where birdlife is often abundant and views of the Höfði lighthouse can be enjoyed. The route continues through the village to the harbour before climbing Ásinn (also known as Nónás), a low ridge overlooking Raufarhöfn.
The ascent offers a nice view of the Arctic Henge as well as over the village, coastline, and surrounding landscape. The trail then follows the ridge across grassy terrain before joining a dirt track near the historic British communications masts dating from around 1940.
After descending, the route returns to the starting point via the village. Hikers looking for an easier walk can follow the dirt track across the ridge instead of the rougher hillside path. A shorter alternative is to return directly through the village without climbing Ásinn.
