Þórshöfn - Two Scenic Loop Walks Hiking trail
Two enjoyable loop walks in Þórshöfn. One route explores the village itself, while the other ventures just beyond the settlement, offering excellent views across Þistilfjörður Bay and back over the village.

The walk begins in the village park, best accessed from the western or southern entrance. Head to the Rainbow Circle sculpture, then follow the footpath past the Health Centre and across Austurvegur to the sports centre. Continue towards the coast, passing Þórsver community hall and on to the viewing platform at Hleinartangi that offers fine views of the surrounding area. Return via Bakkavegur, past the grocery store and back to the village park, completing the first loop.
The second loop leaves the park towards the kindergarten and follows paths to Hálsvegur and Miðholt before continuing to the campsite. From there, a riverside trail crosses a small wooden bridge and passes through the church woodland to the church. Continue south along Sunnuvegur, across the fields towards Ásgarður, then follow the riding trail towards Fossá River and down to the main road. Those wishing to extend the walk can follow the southern bank of Fossá upstream to the waterfall. Otherwise, follow the road back to the village.
Along the harbour are several informative signs, and nearby stands Sandvík, the oldest house in Þórshöfn, built in 1902. From there, return to the village park to complete the walk.
