easyJet changes Manchester–Akureyri schedule and extends season
easyJet has moved its Manchester–Akureyri flights from Tuesdays and Saturdays to Mondays and Fridays. The winter schedule to Manchester will also start three weeks earlier than planned, now beginning on October 26th.
Hjalti Páll Þórarinsson, Project Manager for Route Support at Visit North Iceland, welcomed the changes: “These adjustments are the result of the excellent cooperation we’ve had with easyJet in recent months. We’ve been in productive talks with easyJet since the autumn about shifting the Manchester flights to different days. We are also continually pushing for longer seasons, and that effort is paying off.
“Moving to Mondays and Fridays is likely to encourage more travelers from the Manchester catchment area to fly to Akureyri, boosting tourism in North Iceland. The change is also convenient for locals in the north, who now have more departure-day options when planning outbound trips, and it will be easier for football fans to pop over to matches in Manchester or Liverpool.”
