Ferðamálafélag Hríseyjar

Discover the charm of Hrísey island with the Hrísey tourism association.

At hrisey.is, the Hrísey Tourism Association offers visitors a unique glimpse into the island’s rich history, vibrant nature, and warm community life. Officially licensed for day tours by the Icelandic Tourist Board, the association also operates two of the island’s cultural highlights:

The House of Shark Jörundur, an engaging exhibition on local fishing traditions and the shark hunting heritage.

Holt – The Memorial Museum of Alda Halldórsdóttir, offering a heartfelt window into everyday life in Hrísey in the early 1900s.

But Hrísey has much more to offer:
Nature & Birdlife
Explore scenic walking trails marked with educational signs and enjoy spectacular views across Eyjafjörður. Hrísey is home to around 40 bird species, many of which nest on the island. A dedicated birdwatching hut offers ideal conditions for observing this thriving birdlife.

Relaxation & Wellness
Unwind at Hrísey’s modern swimming pool, which features a hot tub, traditional sauna, and infrared sauna – a perfect way to relax after a day of exploring.

Food & Essentials
The island has a small grocery store with a cozy coffee corner, and a local restaurant serving delicious meals made with Icelandic ingredients.

Fun for the Whole Family
A spacious outdoor recreation area includes playgrounds for all ages, as well as a grill house, making it a great spot for family picnics and gatherings.

Come experience the peaceful rhythm of island life in Hrísey – where history, culture, and nature come together in a truly unique destination.
