Skúlagarður - Country Accommodation and Restaurant
Skúlagarður, former boarding school and community-hall was built in the years 1953 to 1959. In recent years the house has been remodeled into a comfortable guesthouse. We offer accommodation in 17 double or twin rooms with bathroom. The restaurant offers dinner, breakfast and a light lunch. We take pride in offering friendly service and comfortable atmosphere.
Skúlagarður lies at the heart of Kelduhverfi on road 85, only 50 km from Húsavík and 140 km from Akureyri. Only a few km away is the northernmost part of Vatnajökull National Park with such wonders of nature as Ásbyrgi Canyon, Dettifoss Waterfall and Hljóðaklettar Rock Formations. Possibilities for walks in Kelduhverfi and vicinity are numerous along various paths in beautiful nature. The nine-hole golf course by Ásbyrgi is one of a kind. Liltá a popular trout-fishing river is right next to Skúlagarður. Skúlagarður is the perfect location for groups, meetings and gatherings and a welcome oasis for the weary traveler.
