July 4 - September 20

Price description

Ókeypis aðgangur

Annual themed summer art exhibition at Dóra’s Art Studio in Vatnsdalur, Húnabyggð. This year’s exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Agnes Magnúsdóttir. It is a group exhibition featuring artists from Northwest Iceland and beyond, who interpret Agnes’s story through colour and material.

Agnes Magnúsdóttir is probably best known as the victim of the last execution in Iceland, in 1830. The art exhibition focuses on Agnes’s life and work, as well as her poetry. The exhibition also reflects the spirit of the age, the public system of compulsory service, and the hardship experienced by the Icelandic nation at the time.

Dóra’s Art Studio is located 2 kilometres from Route 1 at the entrance to Vatnsdalur in Northwest Iceland. The exhibition opens with a formal ceremony on July 4th,  at 13:00, and will remain open until the 20th of September. The exhibition is open every day except Mondays, from 13:00 to 18:00.
