Grímsey Summer Solstice Festival 2026
The people of Grímsey celebrate an annual community festival in honor of the Summer Solstice, usually held on the weekend closest to the solstice, which falls on June 20–21 each year.
In 2026, the festival will take place from June 19–21.
During the festival, visitors are invited to take part in a variety of events and activities, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The celebrations typically begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday.

Seafood Evening hosted by the Women's Association Baugur at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM)

Open while the ferry is in port.
Admission to all festival events is free of charge, except for the Women's Association Seafood Evening and the dance.
A children's play area will be available throughout the festival.
Transportation
The ferry Sæfari operates between Dalvík and Grímsey five days a week, and Norlandair offers flights between Akureyri and Grímsey on Tuesdays and Sundays. Additional flights are often scheduled during the festival period.
