Þorvaldsdalsskokkið, Iceland’s oldest organized wilderness trail run, will be held for the 33rd time on July 4, 2026.
As in previous years, participants can choose between two race distances, both of which are part of the northern section of the Landvættir trail series. In addition, runners can take part in the Double Þorvaldsdalur challenge, which starts at 09:00 from the starting area at Stærri-Árskógur and covers the Þorvaldsdalur route both there and back.
Official timing ends at 17:00.
For safety reasons, all participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the route and weather conditions before race day. Runners are strongly advised to carry a fully charged mobile phone during the race. Mobile coverage is not available along the entire route, but signals can occasionally be reached and may be crucial in an emergency.
